Pro Bono Testimonials

The Chicago Legal Community is fortunate to have a project like PBI to play such a vital role in promoting justice and providing legal services for the underrepresented.  Without PBI, Abbott would not have a pro bono program and we would have been lost.  We cannot say thank you enough.

Abbott Laboratories

I serve as a director on a board for a nonprofit health clinic. The legal issues of the clinic are varied in subject and seriousness. As the only attorney on either the board or “working" for the clinic, I have an opportunity to bring together my skills, legal knowledge, and network to resolve such issues and to ensure that the clinic remains open. Only then can the medically underserved be examined by a doctor, consult with a nurse, and receive the prescriptions they need.

Amy Rockwell

   Baxter International, Inc.

At the request of the Center for Disability and Elder Law, I gave an estate planning presentation with Sharon Nelson, an attorney from Foley & Lardner, to a community group of senior citizens from Oak Park, Illinois. Sharon and I really made a difference for this group of 50 to 60 senior citizens by explaining how they can protect their assets (homes, bank accounts) and why it is important to have a will. They appeared pleased that we had shared our knowledge with them; they were fully engaged in the dialogue and asked many questions.

Laura L. Hois

McDonald’s Corporation

I serve as outside general counsel to a local cultural and educational not-for-profit corporation. Prior to our engagement, this organization was doing business very informally and usually on a "handshake" basis.  As a result, they were frequently getting unreliable service and it was harming the reputation of the organization. By providing template agreements and helping to establish more formal policies and procedures, we were able to help the organization overcome this challenge.
